Your Name for Political Office

Joe Rende is the Supervisor of the Town of North Castle. In that role, he presides over Town Board meetings and is responsible for maintaining the fiscal health of the Town. Along with the Town Board, the Supervisor is responsible for budgeting, contracting, policy decisions and enacting local laws. As Supervisor, Joe has proactively found ways to improve our Town every day, like building a new parking lot next to the library, working with the Board to find a cost effective solution to install turf fields at the IBM park and creating a Town-run maintenance crew rather than relying on outside contractors. Joe is committed to transparent governance, collaborative leadership, and maintaining North Castle's financial health.

Michael Akavan is an attorney with 15 years of experience in corporate law, litigation, public policy and regulatory work. In North Castle, he served on the Town Technology Task Force, where he focused on improving digital infrastructure and access to information. Michael is running to modernize town services, improve transparency, and ensure North Castle remains a safe, well-run community for all residents.

Sonny Vataj has lived in North Castle for more than 20 years. He is a Captain with North Castle Fire District 2, where he has volunteered for over a decade. He brings more than 20 years of experience in real estate sales, development and acquisitions. He previously served as district chief of staff to a member of the New York State Assembly.

I am a father of four, and everything I do begins with my love and devotion to my family and to the community we share and serve. For the past nine years, I have had the honor of serving as a firefighter in North Castle Fire District 2, where I currently hold the position of Captain. Protecting and serving my neighbors is not just my duty—it is my passion and my way of giving back to the place that has given my family and me so much. That commitment is what drives me to run for North Castle Town Board.

My experience in Albany provided invaluable insights into effective governance and community advocacy, skills I am eager to apply locally.Beyond my public service, my work as a Realtor has given me a unique understanding of our local economy, property values, and the importance of thoughtful community development. This professional insight, combined with my roles as a father, firefighter, and public servant, reinforces my commitment to making North Castle a safer, stronger, and more united place for all of us.
